School Games Mark Award

 

We have been awarded the Gold Standard PE School Mark Award for another year! We are very proud to be one of the few schools who have reached this high standard. Congratulations and thanks must go to Miss Travis and all the pupils, staff and parents both past and present, who have contributed to the achievement of this accolade.

School Sports Council 

As part of the School Games, I am very proud to present our new sports council for 2019 - 2020. They were each selected by their peers to represent each junior class. We will meet regularly to think of new and exciting sporting ideas. They can't wait to get involved and make sport at Rufford even better!

 

2019 - 2020 Achievements!

 

 

Well done to our Key Stage 1 team who took part in the TASA Sportshall Athletics Competition at a local high school. The children took part in three track events and three field events. The children did very well with a collection of first, second and third place awards! Well done to the children in what was their first School Games Event!

 

 

 

A huge congratulations to our netball team who took part in a two week league at a local high school. The children played very well as a team and won all of their matches achieving first place overall in the small/medium schools.

Well done team on our very first School Games achievement this year!

2018 - 2019 Achievements!

 

A huge thanks must go to our Sports Council of 2018 - 2019. During the year, the children bought new playground equipment for everybody to use. They also decorated the play trolley with words like 'respect', 'sharing' and 'health'. They also created and ran Heart Beating Break. The council organised clubs at break times and ran them to encourage all children to be active for the recommended 30 minutes a day in school. 

 

13/6/19

On Thursday, some of our children took part in the School Games Swimming Gala. The children each did an individual race and took part in separate relays races of breast stoke, front crawl and back crawl. One of our children was also selected to take part in the butterfly event and achieved 2nd place. Overall, the team placed 3rd place! Well done to all the children.

 

23/5/19

On Thursday, a group of Year 5 and 6 children headed to Ormskirk Rugby Club for another School Games Event! The children took part in a Tag Rugby competition. This was the first time that the children has played together as a team. After the group stages, the children advanced to the Plate where they won all of their matches. They achieved first place in the Plate! Well done to all the children who took part!

 

 

21/5/19

Another School Games Event saw children from Years 3 – 6 take part in the Muddy Woody Cross Country. Over 50 children took part in each race! All of the children ran brilliantly and they all finished their race. Some of our children even achieved 1st, 2nd or 3rd award for their races! Well done to all the children who took part.

30/4/19

On Tuesday, some of our year threes and fours travelled to Ashurst Beacon Golf Club to take part in the School Games Tri-Golf Competition. 5 boys and 5 girls were on the team and the children had to take part in different target activities gaining points by hitting different targets. With 8 teams entering there was some tough competition. The children played very well and achieved 3rd  place in the competition. Well done to all of the children who took part! 

 

25/3/19

Our hockey team headed to Ormskirk School to take part in a Quick Sticks Hockey Competition. The children played very well and were up against some very good teams. The children showed great defensive and attacking skills and they all enjoyed the experience. Well done for taking part in another School Games Event!

 

14/2/19

Another exciting School Games event saw six of our Year 2 children head to a local high school to take part in a scavenger hunt. The children had to work as a team to hunt for objects around the woods and the field. We all had great fun in the dens and getting stuck in the mud!

 

 

21/1/19

A team of 6 girls and 6 boys from years 5 and 6, headed to the local sports centre to take part in the Sportshall Athletics Competition. Each child had to take part in 2 track and 2 field events. We were up against some very hard competition. All schools performed brilliantly. At the end of the tournament our team acheived a respectable placing of 7th out of 12 schools! Well done to our team on taking part in another School Games Competition

 

15/11/18

Some children from Year 5 and 6, took part in another School Games competition. This time it was the Team Initiative Challenge. The group of eight children had to work together to complete a number a tricky and mind provoking problems. The group worked well as a team and completed 5 out of the 6 challenges coming first in the challenge Electric Fence. 

 

13/11/18

The first School Games event for Key Stage 1 this year was the Sportshall Athletics Competition. The children performed brilliantly and showed fantastic sportsmanship and ability. Each child took part in an obstacle course, a sprint, a hurdle race, a long jump, a javalin throw and speed bounce. Our young team did very well anc achieved nine golds, five silvers and six bronze awards. Well done team!

 

16/10/18

Another School Games event saw six of our children attend a Hi5 Netball competition. All of the children played brilliantly and showed great sportsmanship throughout the competition. The children achieved fourth place! Well done to everybody who took part.

 

 2/10/18

 The football season kick started with a local two-week league. All of the  children played brilliantly throughout the tournament. Our team won the   league only conceding one goal! An outstanding performance by all. Special   thanks must go to Mr Newsham, who trains with the team and puts in a lot of   hard work. Another great achievement for our School Games Award!

 

27/9/18

Our School Games Sports season kicked off with the Composite Relay, which took place at a local primary school. Two of our boy teams entered and two of our girl teams.  All of the children showed determination to get around the tiring course. Our girl teams achieved fourth place and seventh place. Our boy teams achieved second place and fifth place. All of the children showed fantastic sportsmanship. Well done to all of the children!
